Simultaneous Regional Elections are Over, DPR Hopes Elected Regional Heads Work with Honesty After Inauguration
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the PKB Party Faction, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, appreciated the smooth implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections despite the dynamics in several regions. Cucun hopes that the elected regional head candidates can work with integrity.
"We are grateful that the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections has gone well. Hopefully, the elected regional head candidates can work with integrity after being inaugurated," said Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, Monday, December 2.
Cucun reminded all parties to respect the results of the regional elections that took place in 37 provinces and 508 regencies/cities on November 27.
"We congratulate all elected regional head candidates, and for those who have not succeeded in this regional election, let us together maintain security stability by not taking actions that can damage the integrity of the democratic process," he said.
"In the general election contest, winning and losing are inevitable. If there is a dispute, use the channels regulated by law. In addition to legal certainty, it is also certainly to maintain comfort in the midst of society," continued Cucun.
Furthermore, the DPR leader who is the coordinator of community welfare (Kesra) hopes that the elected regional head candidates can carry out inclusive leadership. Cucun also asked the elected regional head candidates to listen to the aspirations of all levels of society.
"Of course this includes those who did not vote for them. When they have been appointed as regional heads, the candidate pairs must become leaders of all the people in their regions, not just for their supporters," he explained.
Cucun also reminded the elected regional head candidates to ensure that they fulfill their campaign promises to the people. According to him, the elected regional heads must understand the great hopes of the people entrusted to them.
"Victory at the TPS is only the beginning of a big task to answer the needs of the community with real work. The elected leaders are expected to be able to lead with integrity and bring real benefits to their citizens and regions," said Cucun.
Cucun emphasized that the elected leaders must be able to improve the welfare of the community. Starting from small things to aspects that have high urgency.
"The elected regional head candidate must be able to continue the tasks of his predecessor, if possible, even better. Such as how to ensure that health facilities, education facilities, and the people's socio-economic and cultural life continue to improve," said Cucun.
"So that the gap can be overcome, the people's economy is maintained, and the unemployment rate can be suppressed with supportive policies," continued the Legislator from the Electoral District of West Java II.
On the other hand, Cucun also hopes that the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections can be a reflection of Indonesia's increasingly mature democracy. According to him, the peaceful and smooth process shows the maturity of the people in democracy.
"The success of this Pilkada is expected to strengthen national unity after the political contestation is over. The Pilkada is over, now is the time for everyone to unite again, working together to provide the best service to the people," concluded Cucun.
