Cliff Landslide In Bandung, One Citizen Dies
JAKARTA - A landslide in Neglasari Village, Bandung Regency, on Sunday, April 11, resulted in one resident dying from a landslide.
"The phenomenon of landslides that then resulted in one citizen becoming a victim occurred after rain poured over the area and the condition of the soil was unstable," said Head of Data, Information and Communication Center of Disaster Management National Agency (BNPB) Raditya Jati in his statement quoted Antara, Monday, April 12.
Raditya said the Rapid Reaction Team (TRC) of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) bandung regency has conducted an assessment and coordinated with local authorities.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) issued weather forecast information that mentions heavy rains that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds are still potentially occurring in the West Java region for the next two days.
In addition, BMKG also provides extreme weather alert alerts for a number of regions, including Aceh, East Java, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua.
Following the weather forecast information from BMKG, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and careful of the potential for extreme weather.
Local government, related parties together with the community are also expected to prepare everything that is considered necessary to anticipate the impact of hydrometeorological disasters that can be caused such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles and fallen trees.
