Jayapura DP3A Budgets Rp2.3 M To Prevent Violence Against Women And Children
SENTANI - The Jayapura Regency Office of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A) has budgeted IDR 2.3 billion to prevent violence against women and children.
Such a large budget is for handling and preventing violence against women and children in Jayapura Regency, Papua.
Head of the Jayapura Regency Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Service, Miryam Y Soumilena, said that there were approximately six cases of violence against women and children until November 2024.
"The six cases are recorded, many are still hidden and become homework to prevent them," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 30.
According to him, in addition to handling protection for women and children, his party is also consistent in handling stunting.
"The Rp2.3 billion fund comes from the 2024 special autonomy fund (Otsus), which is intended for indigenous Papuans (OAP) who are still thick with customs and culture," he said.
He explained that the prevention of violence against women and children was carried out by socialization in 139 villages and five sub-districts.

In addition, he said, his party was also intense in providing additional food with coordination between regional apparatus organizations (OPD), namely the Health Service and the Population Control and Family Planning Service.
"Our regent's message must work together in every program, especially those that are national, must work together for optimal results," he said.
He hopes that the programs carried out will have an optimal impact on the people of Jayapura Regency, especially the OAP.
"We really hope that the number of violence against women and children will continue to decline in the following year so that the welfare of the OAP community continues to improve," he said.
