Komnas HAM Clarifies Central Java Police Regarding Police Shooting SMKN 4 Semarang Students

SEMARANG - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) visited the Central Java Regional Police to ask for clarification on the problem of shooting by unscrupulous members of the Semarang Polrestabes who killed GRO, a student of SMKN 4 Semarang City.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Artanto, confirmed the arrival of the team from Komnas HAM.

"The team from Komnas HAM was received by the Deputy Chief of the Central Java Police, the Semarang Police Chief was also present," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 29.

Artanto stated that the Central Java Police are committed to providing the widest possible access to Komnas HAM to investigate the facts about the events that occurred on November 24, 2024.

"This is part of an effort to ensure an accountable, professional, and transparent legal process," he said.

He also appealed to the public to entrust the handling of the case to law enforcers.

A Semarang student, with the initials GRO, reportedly died allegedly from gunshot wounds to his body.

The resident of Kembangarum, Semarang City, was buried by his family in Sragen on Sunday (24/11) afternoon.

The police suspect that the victim was the perpetrator of an inter-gangster brawl that occurred around the Simongan area, West Semarang on Sunday morning.

The police, who tried to break up the inter-gangster brawl, were forced to defend themselves by firing firearms.

As for Aipda R, the police suspected of carrying out the shooting have now been detained and undergoing legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, the GRO family itself has officially reported the alleged murder to the Central Java Regional Police.
