Atarnegara BRICS Plus Trading Exceeds G7 Countries
JAKARTA - Head of Global Engagement for the International Chamber of Commerce, Davide Cichero revealed, currently the total gross domestic product (GDP) of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, Tingkok and South Africa) has surpassed the country-state members of the G7.
Moreover, he said, coupled with the joining of Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates in early 2024.
"There are already a number of regional economic blocks around the world, whether it's ASEAN, whether it's APEC, whether it's G7, G20, G77, and the like. But what we see, and I think this is clearly something interesting for a number of players in ASEAN, it is clearly the emergence of the BRICS+ state group," he said, Thursday, November 28.
He said, with the joining of Egypt to the United Arab Emirates, the contribution of BRICS Plus to the global GDP had exceeded 35 percent.
"Now 35 percent of these are already higher than G7 member countries," he continued.
For information, the G7 is a large group of developed countries such as the United States, Italy, Britain, France, Japan, Canada, and Germany.
Cicaro said, with this achievement, Chamber of Commerce International pays special attention to the development of BRICS Plus member countries.
The reason is, there is an intensification of economic and trade integration in the countries of the BRICS Plus anggots.
Moreover, the trade between BRICS+ countries has surpassed G7 member countries.
"So overall, from our perspective, from the Internasiona Chamber of Commerce, we see this development with a lot of attention," he continued.
Regarding Indonesia's echoing with BRICS, previously, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono officially conveyed Indonesia's desire to join the BRICS economic bloc in the BRICS Plus Summit (KTT) in Kazan, Russia 24 October 2024.
