Minister Ara to Relocate Residents of Jakarta's Underbridge to Flats This Saturday

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait or Ara will relocate residents living under bridges to flats starting this Saturday.

According to the plan, there are around 232 family cards (KK) that will be moved to the flats with details of 92 KK coming from the Tomang Bridge Underpass, 139 KK from the New Inspection Canal Toll Road Underpass, and 1 KK from the Basuki Rahmat 1 Flyover.

"We are starting with our brothers and sisters who are under bridges or under toll roads. Gradually, we will move them to flats, yes. Which flats will we move them to? From Tomang to Tubun," said Ara at the Pasar Rumput Flats, Manggarai, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 28.

"We will start moving them on Saturday," he continued.

In addition to residents of the Tomang Bridge Underpass, his party will also relocate residents living under the West Inspeksi Kanal Toll Road, West Jakarta.

Later, they will be relocated to several flats, such as the Rawa Buaya flats, Daan Mogot Blok, Daan Mogot Tower, Tegal Alur, and PIK I Pulogadung.

Then residents under the Basuki Rahmat Flyover will also be relocated to the Jatinegara Barat flats, East Jakarta.

Ara added that many private parties have offered their land to him.

He said that many of the private parties claimed to be ready to help accelerate the relocation of residents under the Jakarta bridge to flats.

"So, there are many (private parties) who offer their land, their assistance (for) those who want to move from under the office to flats. That's why I can provide a guarantee to the Jakarta Provincial Government. If you don't have enough, let me know," he said.
