Human Travel Towards A Hereafter, These Are The Stages According To Ulama

YOGYAKARTA - After human life in the world ends, human journey to the afterlife will begin. To get to the afterlife, humans must go through a number of stages first. Check out the stages of human journey to the afterlife below.

In the book Insights of the Qur'an, M. Quraish Shihab mentions that life after death is certain to exist. This is in accordance with the word of Allah SWT in Surah Thaha verse 15:

Innas-s pasti'ata uktiyatun ak Badhit ukhfmenjuh litujz Kullu nafsim bimmen us' bag

Meaning: In fact, Day of Justice is (definite) to come. I almost ( really) hid it. (The arrival was intended) so that every soul is rewarded according to what he has tried.

Below are the stages of human travel to the Hereafter.

The life of the afterlife promised by Allah begins after humans experience death. After experiencing death, humans will enter the first stage towards the afterlife, namely the realm of barzah or the afterlife.

Quoted from the book Insight of the Qur'an, the definition of 'barzah' according to language, means separator. The scholars give an understanding of the nature of the barzah as a period between the life of the world and the hereafter.

Quraish Shihab revealed that when in the grave, a deceased allows him to see the life of the world and the hereafter, like being in a separate space created from a glass.

Regarding this barzah nature, it is expressed in a History, quoted from the book Meaning of Death Forward to Eternal Life by KH Muhammad Sholikhin:

When Utsman bin Affan stopped at the grave, he cried until his beard was wet. Then he was asked by his female slave named Hani, 'Give me the heaven and hell do not cry. But when you remember the grave, you cried. Why?'

Utsman replied, 'I heard the Prophet saw., saying that the grave is the first afterlife home. If you survive in the grave, then after that it becomes easy; if you don't survive in the grave, then after that it becomes more difficult. I also heard the Prophet saying, "I don't see a single scene that is more frightening than the grave." (HR Tirmidzi & Ibnu Majah)

In Surah Az-Zumar verse 68 it is explained:

Wa nufikha fiatur-ri fa a'iqa man fis-sam

Meaning: Even when it is blown, all (cities) that are in heaven and on earth are dead, except for those that Allah wants.

When he thought this time, M. Quraish Shihab explained that there would be a destruction of the universe and its contents. The creatures will die, and those except among them are the Angel of Israfil. Because he still has to blow the conjecture a second time.

Subsequent paragraph from Surah Az-Zumar paragraph 68:

UMma nufikha förhi ukhr fa i Marijuh hum qiymuy yan urn

Meaning: Then, it is blown once again. Instantly, they wake up (from their grave and) wait (God's decision).

Quraish Shihab said, at this stage, humans from the era of the Prophet Adam AS to the last human beings who died, would all be revived from their graves. They will be led by the angels and the protesters to the congregation, which is a gathering place for the courts of Allah SWT. In another Qur'an letter it is explained:

Wa jryptu at kullu nafsim ma'ah sampai siquw wa syahmendad

Meaning: Then, everyone will come with (you) the fans and witnesses. (QS. Qaf: 21)

Yaya tasy-hadu 'alaihim alsinatuhum wa aidmenhim wa arjuluhum bim calm kryptun ya'maln

Meaning: on the day (when) their tongue, hands, and feet are witnesses to what they used to do. (QS. An-Nur: 24)

Furthermore, there will be the day of the trial of Allah as quoted in the book Insight of the Qur'an, where all human actions are determined by 'consideration' properly without any mistakes. From the smallest practice to the big ones everything is weighed, so that no one feels oppressed. This is explained in Surah Al-A'raf verse 8-9:

Wal-waznu yauma'i maritime-vibourism, fa man aqulat mawznaruh fa ul ika humul-muflin Wa man khaffat maw\znuh fa ul ikallana khasari afusahum bim kn biy\"etin ya limn.

Meaning: The balance on that day (is the measure of) the truth. Who is on the scales (of good), they are the lucky ones. Who is light on the scales (of good), they are the ones who have harmed themselves because they always deny Our verses.

Quraish Shihab further explained, after coming from the Mamasyar field, humans continued their journey between heaven and hell, according to their charity scales. In a number of verses of the Qur'an it is stipulated that the journey to the two first goes through shirath, among them in Surah Maryam verse 71-72:

Wa im mingkum ill trimbuh wnajjillaju, kryptana 'al sampai bbika teriaatmam maq julaiy umma nunajjillamennattaqaw wa na jujuaru-LIm lhona föh jiiyyber.

Meaning: No one of you does not pass it (rat on top of hell). This is for your God a predetermined provision. Furthermore, we will save those who fear and let the wrong people in it (cheams) fall down.

Jumhur ulama have a fatwa that shirath is a road or bridge that everyone has to go to heaven. As for under this road, there are all levels of hell with a volatile fire.

The believers will pass the shirath and arrive in heaven at various speeds according to the quality of their piety to Allah. As for musyriks, they will fall into hell according to their piety.

This is the review of human journey to the afterlife. Hopefully we will become people who are rewarded by Allah SWT. Hopefully it will be useful. Visit VOI.id to get other interesting information.
