Oilita Price Reaches IDR 17,100 Per Liter, Trade Minister: Two Days Down

JAKARTA - The price of cooking oil under the Miyakita trademark is above the Highest Retail Price (HET) reaching IDR 17,100 per liter nationally on average. This price increase occurred in several regions, especially in Eastern Indonesia.

The HET of Oilita that has been determined by the government and currently valid is IDR 15,700 per liter.

The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso said the high price of Oilita was due to an increase in demand. Especially in Eastern Indonesia. Therefore, his party will immediately send supplies so that prices can stabilize again.

"The average is Rp. 17,100, but that's for nationally, but in areas such as Java, Sumatra, it is still in accordance with HET of Rp. 15,700. Those are some in eastern areas, so I said earlier that certain areas will immediately send their supplies," he said at a press conference, at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Thursday, November 28.

Furthermore, Budi estimates that the price of Oilita, especially in Eastern Indonesia, could fall in two days. In line with the supply that has returned to flooding in several areas.

"Yes, 2 to 3 days have gone down, so it's back to normal," he said.

Budi emphasized that there is actually no problem with the supply of Oilita itself. He said this price increase was due to the delay in distribution to Eastern Indonesia.

"In terms of supply, there is no problem, yes, according to the DMO, all needs have been met, the numbers have been checked, so there are only minor problems, maybe in the field because the demand has increased, so it needs preparation from distributors and emitters," he explained.
