West Java Acting Governor Confirms One TPS Officer Dies While On Duty

JAKARTA - The Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, confirmed that one security officer at the Voting Station (TPS) in Bogor City died while on duty.

"Yes, in Bogor City, an indication of the heart, he is a KPPS," said Bey, at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

For this incident and the simultaneous 2024 Pilkada vote counting process is still ongoing, Bey reminded the Pilkada officers, including TPS officers, to understand the condition of their bodies and don't forget to rest if they feel tired.

"For officers, if you are tired, immediately rest. The condition of the body is that we ourselves know."

"Don't get sick, we know that the agency gives signals. So, if you feel tired, take a break," he said.

Bey also reminded the leadership of the election organizing committee from the TPS level to above not to force officers to continue working. Learn from the experience of the previous General Election.

The local government, Bey added, has prepared health facilities to be prepared to anticipate various possibilities in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

"Don't force yourself to continue working when you are tired. Yes, learn from the past. Puskesmas must also be able to work 24 hours for this Pilkada," said Bey.

Meanwhile, Bey Machmudin said, from reports of 27 regencies/cities, the voting process in West Java went smoothly, safely, and conducively, with various preparations made despite the rain in several areas.

"Based on the report earlier, both from cities, regencies, and from the Regional Police, TNI, Attorney General's Office, Regional Head Elections simultaneously went smoothly."

"The rain only occurs at the time of calculation. So, the regional elections are simultaneously smooth and hopefully the calculations can run smoothly even though the rain here and there changes," said Bey.

However, apart from being colored by officers at the TPS who died, in the 2024 Pilkada there is also the potential for re-voting (PSU) in Karawang and Sukabumi.

In Karawang the potential for re-voting is because there are parents who represent their children to vote at one polling station. Meanwhile in Sukabumi, there is one voter who gives his voting rights twice.
