Meutya Hafid: Changes In Komdigi Landed On The Sustainability Of Digitalization

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Meutya Hafid reiterated the government's goal in changing the nomenclature or layout of the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo).

This change in the Red and White Cabinet was made because the government wanted to emphasize the focus of technology in Indonesia at this time.

According to Meutya, the communication and digital sector this time emphasizes more about the sustainability of digitalization.

"The president ordered the name to change to the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, so that in the bombing it is also digital, it becomes more common," said Meutya in a Komdigi press release, Thursday, November 26.

In addition to changing names, the implementing element in Komdigi has also changed.

Now, the Directorate General of Postal and Informatics Equipment Resources and the Directorate General of Postal and Informatics has joined into one.

Meutya explained that the merger of the two large bodies was carried out because Komdigi's focus was no longer on growth, but sustainability. When the structure changes, the preparation of the National Data Center Program Temporarily changes.

"So, regarding each person to the smart nation, one special director-general, then one director-general (made) for the digital ecosystem. We want applications from the homeland to also appear and cooperation with global big tech can also enter better," said Meutya.

Meutya added that the focus of Komdigi at this time is supervision in the digital space. Komdigi will eradicate various digital crimes that are currently happening, such as online gambling.

"(Komdigi will also) ensure that the internet is healthier, more child-friendly, female-friendly, and supervises illegal activities, especially illegal financial transactions," said Meutya.
