Nataru Holiday, AHY Says The Government Will Lower Ticket Prices For Domestic Aircraft By 10 Percent

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the government would lower aircraft domestic tickets for the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year holidays. AHY said the decrease in aircraft ticket prices could be up to 10 percent.

"The reduction in ticket prices is to help our community and also to move the economy, including tourism. So from all these elements, including lowering costs or services in airports. Including aviation fuel and of course fuel surcharges, it can be reduced by approximately 10 percent of ticket prices," said AHY in his official statement, written Wednesday, November 27.

AHY explained that the reduction in aircraft ticket prices was driven by three important interventions, namely a 50 percent discount on airport services, a 5.3 percent discount on avtur prices from the previous month and an 8 percent decrease in fuel surcharge for jet engines.

Later, this intervention is considered capable of reducing the ticket price to 9.9 percent or equivalent to saving an average of IDR 157,500 per ticket.

Based on the data, he said, the impact of this policy will be felt by all passenger categories, ranging from full-service services to no-frills. "The estimated overall savings reached Rp472.5 billion during the holiday period," he said.

The plan is for the reduction in the ticket price for this aircraft to take effect at 19 of Indonesia's main airports from 19 December 2024 to 3 January 2025.

"We hope that this policy can have a positive impact, both on the community and the economic sector at large," he concluded.
