Ukrainian Delegation Visits South Korea Asking For Help With War Weapons

JAKARTA - The Ukrainian delegation led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov visited South Korea this week to request weapons assistance to be used by Kyiv in its war with Russia.

Ukrana's delegation met with South Korea's National Security Adviser Shin Won-sik to exchange views on the conflict in Ukraine, the Donga Ilbo newspaper reported on Wednesday, November 27.

In an interview with South Korean television station KBS in October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv would send detailed requests to Seoul for weapons support including artillery and air defense systems.

The South China Morning Post also reported this week that the Ukrainian delegation was scheduled to visit South Korea for weapons assistance, citing information sources.

The group is expected to meet with their South Korean counterparts on Wednesday, according to the report.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, when asked earlier this month whether Seoul would send weapons to Ukraine, said all possible scenarios were being considered and Seoul would observe the level of participation of North Korean troops in Russia. and what Pyongyang received from Moscow in return.
