Secure The Bekasi Regency Pilkada, 1,885 Personnel On Duty To Guard Voting
A total of 1,885 joint personnel were assigned to secure the voting stages in the 2024 Regional Head Elections or Simultaneous Regional Head Elections in Bekasi Regency, West Java.
"They will oversee the voting and vote count at the polling stations (TPS)," said Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner Twedi Aditya Bennyahdi quoting Antara.
He said the joint officers consisted of TNI/Polri personnel and related regional apparatus within the Bekasi Regency Government.
In addition to the joint officers, personnel with operational security assistance (BKO) status were also deployed from Brimob, Polda Metro Jaya, Police Headquarters and TNI soldiers from Korem 051/Wijayakarta and Kodam Jaya.
They are tasked with securing the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada with the main mission of anticipating the possibility of potential disasters, especially floods considering the rainy season is starting to arrive.
"We are preparing to anticipate that if it rains on D day tomorrow, there will be TPS-TPS inundated, especially the distribution from TPS returning to the sub-district, we have prepared boats and plastics to secure logistics," he said.
The police chief has also coordinated with Bawaslu, KPU, and Bekasi Regency regional officials regarding mapping vulnerabilities along with handling solutions carried out.
He hopes that all parties will work together to ensure that the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections in Bekasi Regency can run smoothly, honestly, safely and conducively.
"If something is found that is not appropriate, report it to the organizing committee or Bawaslu, there is already a forum, so don't act separately," he said.
Acting Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Jaoharul Alam, said that the local government fully supports the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada, one of which is by forming a regional election task force to carry out the supervisory function of voting.

"We have assigned all regional apparatus to supervise TPS-TPS in 23 sub-districts," he said.
The Bekasi Regency Government through the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has mitigated disaster-prone TPS to anticipate and at the same time carry out handling for the successful implementation of regional elections.
"For areas that have the potential for flooding have been mitigated by BPBD, there are several polling stations that are monitored by placing personnel there. If a disaster occurs, the TPS can be moved to a safer place," he said.
BPBD Bekasi Regency has also prepared a disaster management aju post by alerting disaster personnel and equipment at any time necessary.
