Lestarikan Batik, Sarinah Holds Stage Karya Nusantara Live Cultural Heritage

JAKARTA - PT Sarinah held the 2024 Nusantara Work Stage (PKN). This event aims to revive Indonesia's cultural heritage. The theme raised in the second edition of this annual event is Batik First, Now, and the Future.

The PKN 2024 event will take place from November 26 to December 4, 2024, in the Sarinah ground floor area.

President Director of PT Sarinah, Fetty Kwartati said that what distinguishes PKN from this year's edition is the involvement of universities in providing space for expression for the younger generation.

Fetty also emphasized that the 2024 PKN is designed with an educational and inclusive approach, presenting various batik workshops, discussion of craft innovations, as well as other relevant creative activities for generations.

"The 2024 PKN is our step to connect traditions with the younger generation through a creative and relevant approach. We believe that batik is a symbol of cultural identity as well as inspiration capable of bringing Indonesia to the global stage," he said in Sarinah, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 26.

Fetty said the adjoint batik collections of leading maestros and collectors, including Batik Apip, Batik Dudung, Batik Sapuan, Batik Heritage, Batik Metaflora, Hartono Sumarsono, and Zahir Widadi will be featured at the event.

"We hope this event can make Sarinah a leading cultural, educational, and shopping destination," Fetty said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Human Resources, Technology, and Information of the Ministry of SOEs Tedi Bharata expressed his appreciation for Sarinah's steps in supporting the preservation of culture as well as strengthening MSMEs through PKN 2024.

Tedi assessed that the PKN event was in line with the government's vision to make the creative economy sector a driving force for the national economy.

"The 2024 PKN not only promotes batik as an Indonesian cultural heritage, but also strengthens the role of MSMEs as pillars of the nation's economy. We support Sarinah's efforts to continue to be a pioneer in retail that prioritizes Indonesian culture," he said.
