Coordinating Ministry For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Strengthens Coordination To Ensure Central Java Pilkada Is Conducive

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security (Kemenko Polkam) strengthens the coordination of local governments, election organizers and security forces to ensure that the 2024 Pilkada in Central Java (Central Java) runs safely and smoothly.

This was done because the Central Java gubernatorial election was one of the most highlighted by the community and had a fairly high level of conflict vulnerability.

"Stubborn cooperation between elements is very important to ensure security and anticipate potential conflicts during the regional elections," said Head of the Simultaneous Pilkada Monitoring Decree Team in Central Java, Major General Rudy Syamsir, when he chaired a meeting with local governments, the TNI, Polri and related parties in Central Java as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 26.

In the meeting, Rudy said that each party played their respective roles in maintaining the conduciveness of the regional elections in Central Java.

These roles must be mutually sustainable from the start of security, the implementation of regional elections to approaches to residents to reduce conflicts.

With the continuous roles, Rudy believes that the regional elections in Central Java will run conducively. Not only that, he also hopes that regional elections in other regions can also run safely and successfully.

Central Java Province is one of the provinces that has a fairly high level of vulnerability. Of the 35 regencies or cities, 19 of them were followed by incumbent candidates.

In addition, there are 1 pair of candidates for governor/deputy governor, 24 pairs of candidates for regent/mayor who fight directly (head to head), and 3 pairs of candidates for regent/mayor who face empty boxes.

The pair of candidates for governor and deputy governor of Central Java also became a public conversation because they were national figures.

The two candidate pairs are former TNI Commander General (Ret.) Andika Perkasa-Hendrar Prihadi and Former Central Java Police Chief Komjen (Ret.) Ahmad Luthfi-Taj Yasin Maimoen.

Their fate and all other pairs of regional head candidates will be determined on voting day on November 27, 2024.
