Mohamed Salah Has Not Received An Offer For An Official Contract Extension From Liverpool

JAKARTA - Mohamed Salah said that he had not yet received an offer for an official contract extension from Liverpool.

He also threw away his future-related code at Anfield saying that more came out than came in.

Salah, whose contract expires next summer, has enjoyed an impressive season. He scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, including two goals in Liverpool's 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

However, speaking after the victory at St Mary's, Salah admitted that he was disappointed that the Reds had not officially submitted a new contract.

"Well, we're almost into December. I haven't received any offers to stay at the club."

"So, maybe more came out than came in," Salah told reporters after the weekend's game.

Salah could not do anything about his contract. However, he didn't worry too much about it.

The most important thing now for him is to carry the target in sight, namely the Premier League and Champions League trophies.

"You know now I've been at this club for years. There's no club like this."

"But in the end, it's not in my hands. As I said before, it's December and I haven't received anything about my future."

"I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end, it's not in my hands or the hands of the fans."

"Let's wait and see. Of course (no disappointing offers), yes. I will not retire soon."

"So, I'm just playing, focusing on this season, and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League too. I'm disappointed, but we'll see," he said.

A source told ESPN that talks between representatives of Salah and Liverpool had been ongoing and were positive.

However, the report reveals that the contract talks are complicated and take time.

Salah signed his last contract with Liverpool, which made him the highest-paid player at the club, in June 2022.

Currently, he is free to talk to clubs outside the UK about free transfers next summer as winter transfer markets open on January 1, 2025.

The 32-year-old was previously linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League. However, he quickly dismissed the conversation last weekend.

The Egyptian is one of three Liverpool players whose current contract expires at the end of the season. The other two players are Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and deputy captain Trent Alexander-Arnold.
