From North, South To Kyiv Ukraine Bombarded By Russian Attacks
JAKARTA - Russian missiles damaged residential buildings in Kharkiv cities in eastern Ukraine and Odesa in the south. The drone strike caused temporary power outages in the Mykolaiv region and targeted the capital Kyiv.
Russia carried out night attacks in remote cities using low-cost'suicide' missiles and drones and low-cost bait drones, which bind to Ukraine's air defenses.
Of the 145 drones used overnight, Ukraine shot down 71 drones and lost track of 71 other drones.
The residents of the capital can hear the roar of the striker drone engine flying over the city for several hours overnight.
Automatic gunshots were occasionally heard as air defenses tried to shoot down Russian drones.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called on Kyiv's Western allies to increase pressure on Russia to prevent the components needed for weapons systems to reach the country.
Russia's attacks on Ukraine's life can be stopped, he said.
"With pressure, sanctions, blocking the colonial access to the components they used to make these terror devices, weapons packages for Ukraine, and unwavering determination," he said.
Russian missile attacks in the northeastern Kharkiv city injured 23 people and damaged more than 40 buildings on Monday morning.
Another missile attack in the southern city of Odesa also damaged residential buildings and injured 10 people, Ukraine's interior ministry said.
The drone strike targets energy infrastructure in the southern region of Mykolaiv, causing a temporary power outage of industrial facilities in the southeastern region of Zaporizhia to be also attacked.
Russia has continuously hit Ukraine's power grid and infrastructure since launching a massive invasion in February 2022.
Moscow said it was not targeting civilians, but the United Nations verified the deaths of nearly 12,000 Ukrainian civilians and officials in Kyiv said the total number was likely much higher.
