Commander: 35 Retired TNI Participates In The 2024 Pilkada

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto revealed that 35 retired TNI officers participated in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in various regions.

He explained that the 35 retired TNI officers consisted of 16 high-ranking officers, 16 middle officers, 2 first officers, and 1 enlisted officer. Even so, he guaranteed that the TNI was committed to maintaining neutrality.

"This is important for me to convey because it has become a TNI commitment regarding neutrality in the regional elections," Agus said during a meeting with Commission I of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

Of the 35 retired TNI journalists, according to him, some of them have retired because they have finished their service period and some have resigned or retired early to run for the election.

The Commander also emphasized that all 35 people were no longer active as members of the TNI. So, he said, they had become retired TNI when they registered as candidates for the KPU.

"Because if soldiers are active, they can't participate in practical politics," he said.

According to the Commander, the TNI is also committed to supporting regional election organizers and assisting the National Police in distributing regional election logistics to leading and outermost areas.

In addition, the TNI has also mapped the vulnerability in the 2024 Pilkada and coordinated with Bawaslu. That way, according to him, the TNI can analyze the potential for vulnerability that will be faced by the KPU and Bawaslu, which needs attention.

"Starting from high vulnerabilities, there are 4 provinces, the level of vulnerability is moderate, there are 23 provinces, and there are 10 low vulnerabilities," he explained.
