Implementation Of Berwolbachia Mosquitoes In West Jakarta Still Replaces Egg
JAKARTA - The implementation of the dengue hemorrhagic fever prevention program (DHF) with aedes aegypti mosquitoes containing funchastic bacteria in West Jakarta (Jakbar) still focuses on replacing eggs every two weeks.
"The implementation in West Jakarta, especially North Kembangan Village, is in the process of replacing eggs every two weeks since the first egg release was carried out," said Acting Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Maryati Kasiman when contacted in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, November 24.
The distribution of buckets containing wolbachian mosquito eggs and feed to the homes of foster parents (OTA) of mosquitoes began on October 8, 2024. Meanwhile, the official launch of the program was held on October 4.
Every two weeks, the Health Office conducts a bucket service process including refilling water, mosquito eggs and feed to ensure the program runs optimally and as expected.
Kembangan District was chosen as the first location for releasing wolbachia mosquitoes in Jakarta because they have the highest number of dengue cases in 2023 with an incident rate (incident rate/IR, namely the number of dengue cases divided by the population at the same time multiplied by 100,000 population) of 54.1 per 100,000 population.
Maryati said, after the third replacement of eggs, a first monitoring will be carried out by the Jakarta Community Health Laboratory Center (BBLKM).
"This is to find out the percentage of wolbachia aedes mosquitoes that already exist in nature," he said.
Referring to the Ministry of Health, bibliography can paralyze dengue viruses in the body of aedes aegypti mosquitoes so as to open new potentials in dengue control.
The implementation of aedes aegypti wolbachia mosquitoes in one area is said to be successful if the population of mosquitoes reaches 60 percent compared to other mosquito populations.
In addition to replacing eggs, continued Maryati, the DKI Health Office is also in the process of preparing for the expansion of egg release in North Meruya Village, Kembangan District.
Meanwhile, data on dengue cases until November 18 cumulatively reached 12,686 cases with IR, namely 111.77/100,000 residents.
The number of dengue cases in October was 264 cases, while the peak of 2024 cases occurred in April with 3,165 cases.
The Health Office hopes that residents can work together to prevent dengue by eradicating 3M Plus mosquito nests (PSN), including in the current rainy season.
This 3M Plus activity is draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, recycling various goods that have the potential to be used as breeding grounds for aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Then, it is also necessary to do additional points such as planting plants that can ward off mosquitoes, raising mosquito larvae, providing larvae to water reservoirs that are difficult to deplete and repairing water canals that are not smooth.
