JAKARTA - Indonesian men's singles, Jonatan Christie had to settle for the runner-up title at the 2024 China Masters. He took second place after being defeated by his fierce rival from Denmark, Anders Antonsen.
In the final which was held at the Shenzhen Gymnasium on Sunday, November 24 afternoon WIB, Jonatan Christie fell in two straight games with a score of 15-21 and 13-21.
At the beginning of the first game, Jonathan Christie started the points through hard smashes. However, the advantage did not make the match easy because after winning, then drawing 3-3, this Indonesian representative was even left behind.
Jonathan had picked up two points from behind, but again the ball force that was too back and the smash that went wide made Antonsen get points. Jonathan fell 5-11 again in the first game interval.
After the break, Jonathan Christie was even left behind again due to his own mistakes. The sixth seed seemed to release the first game repeatedly making mistakes.
Having been behind 6-16, Jonathan was able to get points again. This time it was Antonsen's turn to repeatedly make mistakes because it often fell off the mark.
After Jonathan gets his 11th point, Antonsen can only continue to earn points. Jonathan trailed 11-18 due to a wide return and how come he was caught on the net.
Sukes won two points, Jonathan failed to cross it and made the score 13-19. Jonathan was able to gain two points again and the score became 15-19, but his return went wide again.
After trailing 15-20, Jonathan failed to return Antonsen's smash to lose 15-21 in the first game.
In the second game, Jojo stole the lead but was chased by Antonsen to 4-4 and turned behind to 4-5. Jojo then returned to the lead, but again Antonsen sped ahead of points and won 11-8 over Jojo in the second game interval.
Furthermore, after the break, the additional Antonsen points did not make Jonathan continue to pursue the opponent's points, which is the third seed at the 2024 China Masters.
The distance of the three points was divided and made Jonathan design a fairly good pattern, but the final completion was still not optimal, even adding points for Antonsen. Jonathan had to admit Antonsen's superiority in this final match after losing 13-21 in the second game.
