Health Creators Support Mental Health Education Content On TikTok
JAKARTA Mental health is one of the important issues that are being considered by people in various parts of the world. With the increasing need for technology, this issue is also a debate.
Many believe that technology has a negative impact on mental health, especially for young people, because the number of people with mental health disorders continues to increase from year to year.
Based on Ipsos data, mental health occupies the first position in increasing health issues. Complaints on this issue increased from 27 percent to 47 percent in the last six years in 31 countries.
Although technology is considered to be one of the causes of the high number of mental health sufferers, a number of institutions still use social media to voice the importance of understanding the issue.
For example, the World Health Organization (WHO), which has collaborated with TikTok. These two parties started their global collaboration in September 2024, while collaboration in the country was just inaugurated a few weeks ago.

This partnership is considered a good decision by creators and health experts who use TikTok to disseminate health information, as conveyed by Agus Prasetyo or who is familiarly called dr. Pras.
To VOI, dr. Pras said that TikTok is a very useful for voicing the importance of mental health issues.
"Audiences who see or listen can understand better," he said.
The use of TikTok as a medium for mental health counseling is also supported by Farhan Zubaedi, a doctor as well as content creators from the Fides network.
Farhan said that collaboration between health institutions and social media platforms could actually provide a valid understanding of the issue.
"This is actually a powerful combination because TikTok is one of the big platforms that can be used to voice this information. Meanwhile, WHO can provide valid sources for content creators," said Farhan.
Eva Alicia, the creator who was chosen as Mindful Makers, also gave the same view. As a target for young people's entertainment, Eva believes that TikTok materials can reach and educate more people, especially teenagers.
"This is a very powerful combination and my hope is that the aspirations, which we convey about the mental health, can be conveyed through the TikTok platform."
"This will be one of the programs that will be very successful," said Eva.
