With Amorim, Manchester United's £52m Star Gets Place

JAKARTA - Ruben Amorim has decided to release the £52 million star, Leny Yoro, from Manchester United U-21 to join the main team.

He was seen with other players at Carrington in the first training session under Amorim on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Amorim wants Yoro to stay with the senior squad. He even has a chance to debut with The Red Devils this weekend against Ipswich Town, November 24, 2024.

After training on Monday, a day later Yoro defended Manchester United U-21 who crushed Altrincham 4-0 in the National League Cup (English U-21 level competition).

Yoro recently returned to Carrington after suffering a metatarsal fracture during pre-season against Arsenal on July 26, 2024.

A training clip released by Manchester United shows Yoro, who was recruited from Lille this summer, training on the right side of a back three.

He was joined by Jonny Evans in the middle and Luke Shaw on the left during training. Amorim seemed to take an immediate liking to Yoro.

Meanwhile, Amorim is expected to bring his favoured 3-4-3 formation, which saw him win two league titles with Sporting CP.

Leny Yoro was among the first players to meet up with Amorim when he arrived at the start of the international break.

Amorim does not have a full first-team squad to work with as many of his top stars are away on international duty.

He will be cautious with Yoro's return but may be forced to play him at Portman Road amid uncertainty over other centre-backs.

Manchester United are in the midst of another injury crisis at the back, with Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof both withdrawing from international duty.

Harry Maguire has not been seen in training and looks set to miss the trip to East Anglia.

Maguire has been out for seven weeks with a calf injury he sustained in the first half of the goalless draw with Aston Villa on October 6.
