T-ara Jiyeon Officially Divorced From Hwang Jae Gyun, Agreeing On Gono-Gini Assets

JAKARTA - Jiyeon, member of the T-ara group officially divorced baseball athlete Hwang Jae Gyun on Thursday, November 21. Through court mediation, both agreed on the distribution of Gono-gini assets.

Launching the Korea Times, the trial took place at the Seoul Family Court with an agreement between them. However, they did not specify what the asset sharing would be like.

Both Jiyeon and Jae Gyun did not attend mediation and were only represented by their attorneys for discussion.

In Korea, there are two divorce methods, namely consensual divorce which require both parties to attend the court and the litigation divorce in which the court intervened in the agreement between the two parties.

For public figures such as athletes and celebrities, mediation is used for legal counsel to carry out the process behind closed doors. This choice was also made by Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun to divorce.

Last month, Jiyeon's attorney confirmed the news of their divorce. He said, "The couple can't fight their differences and after separating, they agreed to divorce. They have submitted a letter to the Seoul Family Court."

Separately, Jiyeon said, 'We agreed to mediate a divorce. I ask for your understanding because it doesn't share this early and I will greet you with good news going forward.'

Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun got engaged six months after a six-month relationship in February 2022. In the same year, they got married in December.

The news of their divorce began to circulate after Jiyeon never uploaded a photo with Hwang Jae Gyun and deleted some of their YouTube content.

Jiyeon is a member of the T-ara group as well as an actress. Hwang Jae Gyun has been a baseball athlete since 2006 and has competed for KT Wiz.
