Alexander Marwata's Message About New Leaders: KPK Personnel Don't Have The Right To Choose, Accept And Supervise

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata admitted that he had advised employees to support the new leadership and supervisory board for the period 2024-2029. The choice of Commission III of the DPR no longer needs to be asked because it is not the time.

"I have conveyed to KPK personnel, you don't have the privilege to choose the KPK leadership. So accept what they are and support them, monitor them," Alexander told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, November 22.

Alexander congratulated the KPK leadership for the period 2024-2029. He hopes that all parties can provide support.

Alexander also emphasized that debates in public spaces should no longer occur. If previously there were many pros and cons, or even after being elected there were many pros and cons, it is no longer time for us to question why they were elected," he said.

"The election of the KPK leadership is a momentum for the sustainability of eradicating corruption by ensuring that elected leaders have integrity, competence, and a common vision to strengthen the KPK and eradicate corruption in Indonesia," continued Alexander.

Previously reported, Commission III of the DPR appointed five KPK leaders for the period 2024-2029 through a plenary meeting on Thursday, November 21.

Those elected were Setyo Budianto with 46 votes, Johanis Tanak 48 votes, Fitroh Rohcahyanto with 48 votes, Agus Joko Pramono 39 votes, and Ibnu Basuki Widodo 33 votes.

Setyo was then elected as Chairman of the KPK for the period 2024-2029 by Commission III of the DPR RI. He got 45 votes.
