Police Unload 397 TIP Cases For A Month, Three Regional Police Record The Most Numbers

JAKARTA - Bareskrim Polri and Polda ranks continue to make efforts to eradicate the crime of trafficking in persons or TIP.

It was recorded that 397 cases were revealed during the period from October 22 to November 24, 2024.

"This month, 397 TIP networks have been successfully uncovered," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Wahyu Widada, to reporters, Friday, November 22.

Wahyu also said that during the past month, there were three regional police officers who revealed the most cases of TIP. However, the number of each regional police was not specified.

"Throughout the past month, there have been three regional police officers whose numbers of disclosures are quite large, the largest are the Riau Islands, North Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan," he said.

Not to forget, Wahyu also explained that in the TIP case, there are several modes that are often used by the suspects. One of them illegally dispatches migrant workers.

The illegal contest in question is administrative defects to the use of visas that do not match their designation.

"PMIs departed without job training and married a check-up from an official company that has been registered with the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

"The companies that sent PMI were not registered. So they were sent by companies that were not officially registered at the Ministry of Manpower," Wahyu continued.

There is also a promising mode of employed in a country. It's just that, in fact, the migrant workers are sent to different countries, of course with inappropriate visas.

"Then the PMI departing route is carried out by not going through official channels or implementing rat routes that often occur in border areas," said Wahyu.

Meanwhile, hundreds of TIP suspects were charged with Article 4 of Law number 21 of 2007 concerning eradicating the crime of trafficking in persons with a minimum imprisonment of 3 years and a maximum of 15 years and a minimum fine of Rp120 million and a maximum of Rp600 million.

Then, Pasar 81 of Law number 18 of 2017 concerning the protection of Indonesian state work with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum fine of IDR 15 million.
