Residents Suspect APAR Tubes Filling Activities In Kelapa Gading Illegal

The Kelapa Gading Police are still investigating the explosion of a light fire extinguisher (APAR) that killed one business owner, on Jalan Kelapa Puyuh IV Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

The police are still looking into the status or permission of the APAR tube filling business, whether it is in accordance with the predetermined regulations and SOPs.

"Regarding business licenses, the tube filling should be according to the SOP. We are still investigating this," said Kelapa Gading Police Chief Kompol Maulana Mukarom, ANTARA, Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, the head of RW 019 Kelapa Gading Timur Village, Hendra Yoga, said that these victims did not hang out in their complex environment.

"It's difficult to communicate and we see that they often carry fire extinguishers," he said.

At the time of the incident there were dozens of fire extinguishers at the victim's house. Hendra and residents did not know that there was such activity in the house.

"The house is tall and we don't know. It should be illegal to do," said Hendra.

Furthermore, the police have examined three witnesses in this case. And until now, this case is still being investigated.

"We have examined three witnesses in this case," said Maulana.

Maulana explained, when he received a report from residents about the explosion of the APAR tube, his party immediately went to the location.

"As soon as the officers were there, the victim, who is also the owner of the business, was lying on his back and covered in blood with a wound on his stomach," he explained.

The results of a temporary investigation conducted by the police, the victim died while filling the exploded APAR tube.

In addition, the results of the temporary post-mortem from the hospital showed no blunt objects or other injuries from the victim's body.

"Investigators concluded this was purely a work accident," he concluded.

As previously reported, an APAR tube on Kelapa Putih Street, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta exploded, one person died in the incident. The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said the incident occurred when the witness and the victim intended to fill the tube halo to be sent to their consumers.

"When the tube wants to be sent to consumers, the witness sees that the fire extinguisher is still lacking (wind goes down) so the witness asks the victim to fill the hall again," said Ade Ary in his statement, Thursday, November 21.

"However, the halon filling level needle still doesn't go up," he continued.

Then, the witness ordered the victim to turn off the tap that distributed the halon. At that time, the tube suddenly exploded. The witness saw the victim lying down.
