Komdigi Ready To Face Back Claims When Blocking Online Gambling Content

JAKARTA - Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said it had sent letters to Google, Meta, and TikTok to block keywords connected to online gambling sites.

Meutya said that in the period from November 4 to 20, the online gambling eradication desk managed to block 1,361 keywords on Google and 7,252 keywords on Meta.

"We have written to Google. We have also written to TikTok. We have also written to Meta. To work together to remove the keywords," Meutya said on Thursday, November 21 at the Ministry of Communication and Industry office, Jakarta.

Meutya juga menegaskan bahwa Kemenkomdigi akan terus melakukan upaya pemberantasan judi online dengan menutup atau memblokir aplikasi dan situs judi online, meskipun ada tuntutan balik yang diajukan ke Komdigi.

"For friends to know that the government, in this case, the Ministry of Communication and Trade, in order to close the site or application, sometimes we also have to deal with the demand back. It's okay for us to face it," he said.

"If it is a complaint from the public, we will close. And we are ready to face each other if they are sued. We will explain why we have signaled these sites related to actively online gambling," he concluded.
