China Masters 2024: Be Patient/Reza Silence First Seed
JAKARTA - Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani stopped Liang Wei Kehind/Wang Chang's first seed from reaching the quarter-finals of the 2024 China Masters.
The runner-up at the Macau Open 2024 won two straight games 21-10 and 21-16 over the host pair at Shenzhen Gymnasium, China, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, noon WIB.
"It feels mixed because this victory could ensure our steps to the BWF World Tour Finals," said Sabar in a statement received.
Patience/Reza currently occupy eighth position in the Race to Finals ranking. This means that they meet the requirements and have a great opportunity to appear in the closing event of the World Tour Finals season later.
If they pass, the Indonesian men's doubles sector has two pairs and will play there. One other pair is Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto who will definitely qualify.

"Something that was not imagined before. So, if you get away like a dream come true. We compete with great motivation. We want to win because of the chance to qualify," said Sabar.
This is Sabar/Reza's first victory over the pair who occupy the world number one from a total of four of their competitive meetings.
In the previous three meetings at the Australian Open 2022, Thailand Open 2023, and Singapore Open 2024, Sabar/Reza always came home with a rubber game defeat.
"The last meeting at the Singapore Open then against them was an important lesson to be more confident and confident today because at that time we had found the formula," said Sabar.
