Elon Musk Distributes Tesla-Made Ventilator For COVID-19 Patients

JAKARTA - Tesla CEO Elon Musk began distributing his artificial ventilators to various hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients. Its first destination is New York City, United States (US) which is overwhelmed by the handling of the corona virus pandemic.

Launching the Forbes page, Elon Musk does not charge a delivery fee or a ventilator device for COVID-19 patients who are hospitalized. The only condition that Musk asked was for the ventilator not to be wasted, and just stored in the warehouse.

“We have additional ventilators that are FDA approved and will be delivered to hospitals around the world at no cost to you. The only requirement is that this ventilator can be immediately used for patients and is not stored in a warehouse, "Musk said via his personal Twitter account.

Ventilators are devices that help and treat respiratory infections such as COVID-19 patients. This is the first time that Tesla has produced a device outside the automotive, especially for medical purposes in large quantities.

This medical device made by Tesla has been FDA approved and will be produced as many as 1,255 ventilators with Philips & Medtronic. Later in the next few weeks these ventilators will be distributed to hospitals in need.

Musk also plans to reopen Tesla's Gigafactory in New York to manufacture ventilator devices. The goal is that the supply of medical devices for COVID-19 patients is sufficient.

In making a ventilator, Tesla was not alone. Several companies that manufacture medical devices for hospitals have also invited Tesla to join forces. One of them is Medtronic. Not long ago, through the company's official website, they leaked the specifications and design of the PB 560 ventilator which will be made with Tesla.

"Medtronic recognizes the need for a very rapid ventilator as a life-saving tool in the management of COVID-19 infection. We know this global crisis requires a global response. By publicly sharing PB 560 design information, we hope to increase the global production of ventilator solutions to combat COVID-19. -19, "said Medtronic Executive Vice President Bob White.

Bob hopes that this collaboration will continue in the manufacture of ventilator components to large-scale production, so that the needs of medical devices for COVID-19 patients are met. Moreover, the number of positive Corona patients has now reached 216,722 people and is expected to continue to grow.
