China Masters 2024: Lanny/Fadia Forced Injury Resigns

JAKARTA Lanny Tria Mayasari suffered an injury to her arm so she had to withdraw from the 2024 China Masters with her partner, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.

Lanny/Fadia's decision to withdraw made other Indonesian representatives Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi qualify for the second round without having to finish the match on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

Febriana/Amallia have won the first game 21-17 and are in 6-4 lead in the second game when Lanny made the wrong move and caused discomfort in his hands.

"So, we agreed to decide to resign," said Fadia in a statement received from PBSI Public Relations.

From the women's doubles sector, only these two pairs were brought down by Indonesia. Thus, hope now lies with Febriana/Amallia, who is the winner of the China Taipei Open 2024.

Amallia hopes that Lanny's arm problems are not serious so that his colleague can recover quickly and return to the field immediately.

"We don't want a win that we don't want at all," said the 23-year-old badminton player from Sukoharjo Regency.

This is the ticket to the second round of 16 that Indonesia secured today. Previously, the first ticket was pocketed by mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

On the other hand, apart from Lanny/Fadia, the ticket to the second half also failed to be obtained by the women's singles Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. The 2024 Olympic bronze winner was beaten by Thailand's singles, Pornpawee Chochuwong.
