Prabowo: Thank You National Team, Extraordinary

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto thanked the Indonesian national team for winning 2-0 over Saudi Arabia in the sixth match of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification at GBK Senayan Main Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/11).

"God willing, I don't know the calculation but thank you. Thank you to the extraordinary national team, thank you," said President Prabowo at Galeao Air Force Base, Rio de Janeiro, via a video reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 20.

President Prabowo, who is preparing to leave the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Wednesday, gave a statement to the media, before leaving for London, England.

In his statement, the President explained that although he did not know for sure about the calculation of Indonesia's position in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the President expressed his gratitude for the hard work of the Indonesian national team in conquering Saudi Arabia.

President Prabowo is known to remain enthusiastic about providing his support by watching the match held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/11) night via cell phones on the sidelines of a land trip, in the midst of a series of state visits.

In the uploaded photo, President Prabowo appears to be in the car and wearing a suit complete with a cap.

Prabowo seemed to be holding a cell phone with his left hand, while his right hand tightened his hands up.

It was written in the upload, "The spirit of Garuda, Come on Indonesia". With the addition of the red and white flag emoticon.

The national team's victory brought Indonesia to break a series of minor results in the last five matches which were only able to win three draws and lost twice.

With this inaugural victory, Shin Tae-yong's team is now in third place in Group C by getting a total of six points or a difference in goal productivity from Australia which is in second place with the same collection of points.

Meanwhile, Japan, which gets the full three points from China's home, is now comfortable at the top of the standings by securing a total of 16 points.
