Immediately Update Your IPhone, IPad, And Mac To Overcome Critical Security Threats

JAKARTA - Apple has released iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS updates to close serious security vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit. These updates include iOS 18.1.1, iPadOS 18.1.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1.1, and visionOS 2.1.1.

Security Vulnerabilities Fixed

The two main security issues addressed involve the WebKit and JavaScriptCore frameworks, which serve to run web content and JavaScript code on Apple devices:

CVE-2024-44308:

  • Involves JavaScriptCore, allowing arbitrary code execution via malicious web content.
  • Apple improved data checks to prevent malicious activity.

CVE-2024-44309:

  • Involves WebKit, allowing Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks by exploiting cookie management.
  • The fix involves improving data management to prevent unauthorised access.

Both of these vulnerabilities were confirmed to be ‘possibly actively exploited’ on Intel-based Mac systems.

Update Compatibility

  • iOS 18.1.1 & iPadOS 18.1.1: Supports iPhone XS and above, 11-inch iPad Pro (1st generation and above), iPad Air (3rd generation and above), and others.
  • iOS 17.7.2 & iPadOS 17.7.2: For devices that do not support the latest OS.
  • macOS Sequoia 15.1.1: Compatible with Intel-based Macs (released after 2017) and Apple Silicon-based Macs.

Update Steps

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro, or System Settings on your Mac.
  2. Select General > Software Update.
  3. Download and install the update. Make sure your device is connected to stable Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery power.

By installing this update, you can protect your device from potential attacks that could steal data or remotely control your device. Don't delay in keeping your data safe.
