Bath Night And Wear An Wind Fan Cause Pneumonia? This Is What The Doctor Said

JAKARTA - Pneumonia is an inflammation in the lungs, which is the highest cause of death in children in the world today. Bathing at night is often associated as the cause of a person suffering from pneumonia.

However, a child specialist in respiratory consultants, dr. Wahyuni Indawati, SpA(K), emphasized that until now there is no medical evidence that a night bath causes pneumonia. However, the night bath will indeed affect the body temperature significantly.

Especially if the night bath is carried out by children who are in an unhealthy body condition. This will further burden the health of the child's body.

"The temperature of the body changes drastically, especially if the bath is cold at night, it can have an impact on the health of the child. Especially if the child is not in top condition. However, directly taking a shower that night itself cannot be said to be the cause of the disease," said dr. Wahyuni when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Diseases such as pneumonia which are infections in the lungs occur due to other factors such as viral or bacterial infections. Therefore, taking a night bath cannot be the main cause of the disease.

Then regarding the use of fans, Doctor Wahyuni also said that he did not cause pneumonia. However, fans can become a medium to expand the spread of the disease.

"Wind fan is not a direct cause of pneumonia, but it could be a medium to expand transmission of transmission," he said.

Pneumonia transmission through a fan can occur only if a fan is placed in a closed room and once occupied by a bacterial carrier. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the main cause of pneumonia is the infection of streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, which is commonly found in cases of children.

The pneumonia-causing bacteria that are carried can spread indoors through droplets or saliva splashes, which come out of the mouth either by sneezing, coughing, or while talking. The splash hits the fan, the bacteria will stick to the surface of the object for a long time and can infect other people.
