BNN Destroys More Than 20 Kg Of Methamphetamine Owned By 2 Narcotics Networks

JAKARTA - A total of 20,221.35 grams of crystal methamphetamine confiscated by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) from 9 suspects were destroyed by burning them using an incinerator machine in the courtyard of the BNN RI Office, Cawang, East Jakarta, Tuesday, November 19.

BNN Main Secretary, Tantan Sulistyana said 19,987 grams of methamphetamine-type narcotics were confiscated by BNN together with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise as well as the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) from three suspects with the initials M, AH and AS.

"The disclosure began with public information and the results of scientific investigation carried out by BNN officers, there was a shipment of methamphetamine from the Medan area, North Sumatra to the Bogor area, West Java," he told reporters, Tuesday, November 19.

BNN officers together with Customs and Excise as well as the North Sumatra Province BNN on October 17, 2024, then carried out an ambush against a red car in a gas station area on Jalan Raya Pajajaran, Bogor, West Java.

During a search, BNN officers managed to find a total of 20 packs of methamphetamine weighing 19,987 grams which were hidden separately.

Seven packs of methamphetamine were hidden under the driver's seat, six packs of methamphetamine under the left front seat, and seven packs of methamphetamine at the rear trunk door.

The three suspects with the initials M, AH and AS were arrested by BNN officers at the scene along with evidence.

"Meanwhile, based on the results of the interrogation, this narcotics is part of the Aceh - North Sumatra - Java network controlled by MI and initials I," he said.

Furthermore, the BNN Team coordinated with the Directorate of Security and Intelligence of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.

The results revealed that this network was controlled by a husband and wife named Suriana and Juliadi who are currently in Bangkok, Thailand.

Furthermore, BNN RI officers together with the Riau Islands BNNP and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise secured 260.35 grams of crystal methamphetamine from the Inter-Provincial Network of Riau Islands - NTB at the Batam Center International Fery Port, on Thursday, October 24.

"Evidence in the form of methamphetamine packaged in 3 packages in the form of capsules was hidden by suspect HS in his stomach," he said.

Based on the suspect's statement, the evidence is planned to be brought to Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Following up on information from the suspect HS, officers then arrested AS in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara as the recipient of methamphetamine.

Subsequently, officers arrested AM (people ordered the US) and S (the person who ordered HS). Both AM and S were secured in Taman Ria, Bima City, NTB.

"The destruction of evidence of narcotics can save more than 40 thousand lives," he said.
