Indonesia Aims For 3 Golds At The 2024 MMA World Championships
JAKARTA Indonesia is targeted to get three gold medals when they host the GAMMA World MMA Championship 2024 next month.
The championship will take place at the Dewa MMA Arena, Tangerang, Banten, on 6-14 December 2024. This is the first time the event has reshuffled the senior and junior categories.
Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Mixed Fighting Association (PB Percatami), Tommy Paulus, said that Indonesia has no grandiose targets because competition in this event will be tough.
"This is a world championship and many countries come with their champion teams. I'm not grandiose, I told the target team three gold," said Tommy in Jakarta.
Currently, there are 500 of the 42 countries that have registered and will definitely appear in the event. That number may still increase because registration is still open until Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
Indonesia will field 21 male athletes and 13 female athletes in the senior category. Meanwhile, in the U-18 category, Indonesia has 12 athletes consisting of 10 male athletes and two female athletes.
These athletes have undergone a series of thorough preparations. The senior team was sent to Kazakhstan and the U-18 juniors underwent a training camp in Jakarta since June 2024.
Tommy hopes that in addition to meeting the target, Indonesia can also undergo the first experience of organizing this event successfully.
"Preparations have been going well so far. Challenges and obstacles must be there, but we can overcome everything. We ask for prayers and support, hopefully, our event at the end of this year will run smoothly," he said.
The organizers plan to present the traditional martial arts pencak silat at the opening ceremony of the GAMMA World MMA Championships 2024.
The one-clad rhino, which is a typical animal of Banten, was chosen as the mascot. The animal is an option because it reflects strength, persistence, and resilience.
Meanwhile, there are five ticket categories released by the organizers for this event. The details are Bronze Rp. 75 thousand, Silver Red and Blue are Rp. 150 thousand, Gold Rp. 300 thousand, and VIP Rp. 500 thousand.
