North Sumatra Police Arrested 4 Couriers Of 54 Kilograms Of Shabu

The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the North Sumatra Regional Police (North Sumatra) arrested four suspected couriers of 54 kilograms of methamphetamine-type narcotics planned to be brought to Jakarta.

"The personnel confiscated evidence of three suitcases containing 54 packs of methamphetamine weighing 54 kilograms, cash in rupiah denominations, ringgit, one passport, car and other evidence," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 19.

Hadi said the perpetrators were arrested, namely a man with the initials A alias S (26), a resident of Bireuen Aceh Regency, Aceh, S (39), DA (28) and JA (26), all three residents of Deli Serdang Regency.

The North Sumatra Police's Special Team of Drug Investigation Directorate arrested the perpetrators on Jalan Lintas-Tanjung Kasau, Indrapura District, Batu Bara Regency, Sunday (17/11).

"The chronology of arrests began with personnel receiving information that a car was carrying drugs into Kuala Tanjung Village, Batu Bara," said Hadi.

Then, the officers carried out an investigation and obtained complete information on the identity of the car that would carry the evidence.

Furthermore, the team moved to Indrapura at around 06.00 WIB the suspected car passed to the area.

"After that, the personnel gave chase and blocked the car. Then the four perpetrators were arrested along with evidence," said Hadi.

From the results of the initial interrogation, the perpetrators picked up the evidence in Kuala Tanjung which was to be brought to Jakarta on the orders of someone (in the investigation).

Furthermore, the personnel brought evidence and suspects to the North Sumatra Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate office for further investigation.

"The North Sumatra Police are firm against drug offenders who fight and endanger the safety of officers and the public will be given firm and measured action," said Hadi.
