China Masters 2024: Jonathan Stop Low Kean Yew
JAKARTA Jonatan Christie's men's singles came out victorious in an hour's hot duel against Low Kean Yew in the first round of the 2024 China Masters.
Jonathan, the sixth seed in this tournament, missed the second game over Singapore's singles. However, managed to close the duel with a final score of 21-17, 19-21, and 21-11 on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
"I am still adjusting to the conditions here. The adaptation is not optimal," said Jonathan after the match in a statement received from PBSI Public Relations.
Winning the first game and missing the second game made Jonathan included in the shadow of the semifinals at the 2024 Japanese Kumamoto Masters last week.
At that time, he managed to win the first game and missed two games after that against Malaysia's Malaysian men's singles, Leong Jun Hao.

"In the third game I was just thinking how the incident at the Kumamoto Japan Masters last week did not happen again. So, when you are ahead, keep pressing, don't reduce the tempo," said Jonathan.
Jonathan's success failed to be followed by the men's doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin. The pair fell against fifth seed from Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.
From the men's doubles sector, the veteran pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan also felt defeat. The Daddies returned early after falling against their juniors, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.
