Green Day Bassist Mike Dirnt Gives His Bass To A Boy In Mexico

JAKARTA - Kiki, a Mexican boy, managed to make many people jealous. He just got Fender Mustang Bass which is usually used by Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt.

The incident began when Green Day appeared in the Mexican capital, Mexico City on November 15.

After performing, Green Day with the team headed to the airport to leave Mexico City. There, Kiki and her mother, Alejandra Barrera met directly with the California band.

In a video that went viral on social media, Alejandra asked Mike to take a selfie. He didn't want to miss the opportunity to meet with Green Day personnel in person.

After taking a selfie, Mike asked Kiki if she could play the guitar. The mother explains that her son does not play the guitar, but piano.

"You played the piano?" Mike asked Kiki.

"Okay, now you're a bass player," continued Mike, who immediately gave the bass to Kiki.

Kiki smiled but could not speak, while Alejandra looked so moved when his son got bass from a musician who was known to the world.

"He said he was playing the piano, but now he's a bass player. The world needs more bass players," said Mike.

The 52-year-old bassist also signed his bass before completely becoming Kiki's. He asked the boy to have fun with his new bass.

Through Instagram, Mike uploaded a photo of himself holding the bass that currently belongs to Kiki.

"Hopefully the boy I gave this bass in Mexico City can have fun with him like me," wrote Mike Dirt.
