Central Java Police Reveal Illegal Mining Activities In Klaten
The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Central Java Police has succeeded in uncovering a case of alleged illegal mining crimes committed by PT. Sakelar Jaya Abadi in Bandungan Village, Jatinom District, Klaten Regency. The disclosure of this case was carried out after receiving reports from the public regarding mining activities suspected of violating the rules.
The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Arif Budiman, in his statement on Monday morning, November 18, 2024, explained that the illegal mining was discovered on Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2024 ago.
"Following up on the information obtained by the public, the officers conducted an investigation and the results found that the mining activities carried out by PT. Sakelar Jaya Abadi were proven to be outside the concession coordinates that had been set in the company's WIUP," he said.
The commodities mined are in the form of sand and stone or sirtu. The mode used by the company is to sell illegal mining products to consumers directly at mine sites and also to sand depots in Klaten areas.
The selling price pegged for sand reaches IDR 550,000 per truck, while the stone is priced at IDR 350,000 per truck. Mining products are sold to buyers who come to the location and to the sand depot in Klaten," he explained.
In the process of disclosing, the police secured various pieces of evidence, including two excavator units, a sand-like device, a sales record book, a purchase note, and a mining business permit document. The location of the illegal mine has now been fitted with a police line and its operations have been stopped for further investigation.

"We have also asked for information from a number of witnesses, both from the company and expert witnesses from the Merapi Region of Central Java Province to strengthen the existing evidence. We are still developing an investigation to further reveal this illegal mining practice," he said.

This is clear evidence of the police's commitment to take firm action against every illegal activity that not only harms the country economically but also has the potential to damage nature's sustainability.
