10 KPK Leadership Candidates and Supervisory Board Candidates Considered Qualified, DPR Commission III in Dilemma of Having to Choose 5 People

JAKARTA - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives has begun the fit and proper test process for 10 candidates for leadership and 10 candidates for the KPK supervisory board. Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Habiburokhman admitted that he was in a dilemma having to choose 5 Capim and 5 Cadewas because all candidates were considered qualified to lead the anti-corruption agency.

"Yes, today we are starting to carry out what is called a fit and proper test, for Capim we will choose and determine the members, leaders and chairman of the KPK. For the Supervisory Board, this is called a consultation and in-depth forum for the next we will recommend 5 people to the President," said Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 18.

On the first day of the fit and proper test, all Capim and Cadewas KPK took a serial number and made a paper at Commission III of the DPR starting at 08.00 to 11.00 WIB. Continued with the election and determination of Capim KPK at 13.30 WIB.

"What are we doing now, making a paper, later at 1 pm we will start one by one we will go into depth," he said.

The implementation of the fit and proper test for the KPK Capim and Cadewas will last for four days until Thursday, November 21. The determination is planned to be completed at night at 9:00 p.m. WIB.

"Friends, all are ready from all factions from today until Thursday night, God willing, we will be like that from morning until 9 p.m. every day," explained Habiburokhman.

"Why? Because in this period we are giving each candidate more time to carry out the fit and proper process. If usually it is only 1 hour, this is one and a half hours. With the hope that the candidate will have more time to convey his vision, mission and ideas related to the KPK," continued the Gerindra legislator.

However, Habiburokhman revealed that Commission III of the DPR is in a dilemma because it has to choose 5 leaders from 10 qualified candidates. According to him, almost all Capim and Cadewas have integrity as KPK leaders.

"Indeed, this time, yes, we have to say that Commission III is in a dilemma. What is the dilemma? Because of all these candidates, almost the quality is the same, they have quality integrity, have big ideas, have good track records and are almost flawless," he said.

"So, we thank the Selection Committee for presenting the best candidates, but the dilemma is that we have to choose half of those proposed. Out of 10 we can only choose 5. If we could, we would choose all of them, but the law requires us to only choose 5 of them," concluded the Deputy Chairperson of Gerindra.
