Jakarta Governor Election Third Debate, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono Highlights Uneven Spatial Planning

JAKARTA - The candidate pair for governor and cawagub of DKI Jakarta number 1, Ridwan Kamil and Suswono, highlighted the injustice of spatial planning that is still happening in Jakarta.

In his presentation of his vision and mission, RK revealed that the injustice of spatial planning in Jakarta caused many Jakarta residents who were unable to have decent housing. In addition, hydrological disasters such as floods also haunt Jakarta residents.

"The state must be present to address the issue of spatial planning injustice that has occurred since the Dutch colonial period. Because Jakarta is not only an elite area but also on the outskirts," he said in the third Debate of the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, Sunday, November 17, 2024.

The former Governor of West Java ensured that if elected as governor, he would listen to complaints about problems in the community.

"The task of the RIDO (Ridwan Kamil-Suswono) pair with all its innovations is not to always be regulated by market law, but the state must be present," he added.

RK gave an example of Gen Z who is unable to have a residence in Jakarta which leads to problems with space injustice in Jakarta. Therefore, his party will provide programs regarding settlements in Jakarta to provide equal opportunities for people to have their own housing.

"Volvertical housing for Gen Z has a dream to be in Central Jakarta, land above the market, TOD at stations, land on roads and in the middle of the river we can also innovate," said RK.
