Not Innovation, Lapor Mas Wapres Service Considered a Regression

JAKARTA – Public policy observer Agus Pambagio has requested that the Lapor Mas Wapres service initiated by Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka be canceled. This is because the service is a step backwards, not innovative.

According to him, the complaint service carried out at the Vice Presidential level is not something that does not need to be held, because it has the potential to overlap with the duties and functions of other institutions and ministries, especially regarding the long bureaucratic process. In addition, the transparency process is often difficult to carry out in the complaint service process.

“Are there any reports to the public, how many have been received, how many are problematic, how many have been resolved, what if not resolved? That must be explained to the public. If it is held by the Vice Presidential Secretariat, the series will be long. Who should the report be to? Can you really call the minister?” said Agus, Sunday, November 17, 2024.

He revealed that a similar service had been run by the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) and was proven not to work. The reason is, the service is only a place for complaints, while the execution stage remains with the ministry.

Agus emphasized that rather than just for image building, the government should strengthen complaint services in each ministry. Because, complaints from the public will certainly be technical in nature, which should be handled by the relevant ministry or institution.

"It would be more optimal if the ministry itself created the service, especially now that there are so many ministers. It would be a shame for the Vice President's Secretariat if Lapor Mas Wapres service could only accommodate complaints, but could not execute them because that is the authority of the ministry," he concluded.
