Simalungun Cup 2024 Becomes The Dramatic Closing Series Of Aquabike Jetski World Championship
Simalungun Spectators flooded the Free Beach, Simalungun, North Sumatra, to witness the final series of Aquabike Jetski World Championship 2024, namely the Simalungun Cup, on Friday 15 November. The competition, which was held under heavy rains, provided additional challenges for the athletes, making it an event full of tension and solidarity spirit.
Acting President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the audience and support of the Simalungun community.
"The rain that had flushed during the race actually added to the excitement of this event. The audience still gives full support to the athletes, who combine the tension of racing with the spirit of solidarity. Moreover, Simalungun Regency is the first host to host this event. For that, we express our gratitude for the enthusiasm of the residents who support this event," said Maya Watono in a written statement.
Di arena balapan, atlet Jepang Hajime Isahai berhasil menjadi juara Simalungun Cup dengan total poin 45, hasil dari kemenangan dua race yang memberikan masing-masing 20 dan 25 poin. Meski memiliki poin yang sama, Francois Medori dari Prancis harus puas di posisi kedua karena kalah dalam klasifikasi balap terakhir. Atlet asal Amerika Serikat, Anthony Radetik, mengamankan posisi ketiga dengan total 36 poin.
Indonesian athletes such as Wimrypto Maakio and Ramadhina Kanina also attracted attention even though they were only in the middle class. Their appearance at this event provides motivation and valuable experience in competition at the world level.

The Simalungun Cup is an important part of the accumulation of points for the endurance category, which counts the results from the Karo Cup, Dairi Cup, and Simalungun Cup to determine world champions. Francois Medori was finally named the endurance world champion this year with a total of 170 points, followed by Anthony Radetic with 159 points in second place, and Hajime Isahai who locked third place with 154 points.

Furthermore, Aquabike Jetski World Championship will continue in Pangururan, Samosir, on November 16-17. This event is expected to continue to promote the beauty of Lake Toba and strengthen its position as an international sports tourism destination.
