Bali Issues SE Regulates Joged Bumbung To Avoid Pornography

JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Bali issued a circular containing official regulations on the Joged Bumbung dance to avoid pornographic attractions that often go viral on social media.

Quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, November 16, 2024, the Head of the Bali Culture Service (Disbud) I Gede Arya Sugiartha in Denpasar, said that similar circulars had been issued several times, but they were still violated frequently, in the end they launched Ilikita or the official standard which became a reference.

"The circulars that were not equipped with Ilikita in the past, right now the Balinese Cultural Assembly is issuing ilikita or what is permissible or not, meaning that there are clear rules, previously there were none," said Arya.

It is known that Circular Letter (SE) Number 18 of 2024 concerning the Joged Bumbung Jaruh (Pornography) traditional dance signed by Acting Governor of Bali refers to Ilikita Joged Bumbung from the Bali Cultural Council Number 01/X/MKB/2024.

In it there are rules that bind dance groups, dancers, buskers (components who dance, ed), event organizers, and social media users.

The rules include movement rules so that there are no more pornographic attractions that injure the defamation, ethics, and aesthetics of Balinese dance, as well as regulate costumes that are often made indecent and highlight certain body parts.

"This means that there has been firmness, later if someone violates it can be reported to us, later guidance can be carried out, at least we will call, give directions, make a statement letter," he said.

Although there is already an official Joged Bumbung standard, said Arya, the violators have not been dragged into the criminal realm, because this is a culture that needs a lot of consideration.

So far, the pornographic attraction in this dance has also been carried out, because there are no definite rules that are the reasons for violators, so that the newly launched ilikita is expected to be able to answer.

Disbud Bali also emphasized the existence of regulations, from now on it is hoped that content on social media that shows the abnormality in the dance will be removed soon.

"Prohibiting the jeruh dance performance, both on live and social media, trying to also delete, together with the regents, mayors, traditional villages, and all figures participating in eradicating the porn dance," said Arya.
