RSCM Doctor Calls The Current Dominant Disease Stroke And Diabets Due To Lifestyle

JAKARTA - Internal Medicine Specialist from the Advanced Diabetes Center, Dr Cipto Mangunkusumo National Central General Hospital (RSCM) dr Syahidatul Wafa revealed that there was a shift in disease patterns that occurred in the community from time to time.

Wafa explained that the shift in the pattern of the disease occurred due to a human lifestyle that was considered increasingly unhealthy.

"There has been a change in the pattern of disease, in the 90s there were many infectious diseases, but over time this dominant disease is now stroke, diabetes, and other lifestyle-related diseases," Wafa said, quoting ANTARA, Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Wafa added that this shift shows the shift from an infectious disease to a disease due to an unhealthy lifestyle.

According to him, several examples of lifestyle diseases that are often encountered include obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, hypertension, heart disease, kidney disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cancer, and liver cirrhosis.

"This is all important for us to know. Let's change our healthy lifestyle together to avoid disease," said Wafa.
