Waskita Karya Targets Jragung Rampung Dam 2025

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk targets the construction of the Jragung Dam to be completed by 2025.

Director of Operations II Waskita Karya Dhetik Ariyanto stated that the company is focusing on working on the National Strategic Project (PSN) to be completed on time.

Waskita, he continued, also continues to pay attention to the quality according to applicable standards.

"Waskita is optimistic that it can complete the Jragung Dam according to the specified target. Our team in the field will contribute to increasing productivity and performance, so that people can immediately feel the benefits of the project," he said in an official statement, Saturday, November 16.

He said that later the dam, which has a capacity of 90 million cubic meters, could supply raw water needs of one cubic meter per second (m3/dt).

A total of 0.5 m3/dt, among them, he said, for Semarang, then for Demak and Grobogan, each amounted to 0.25 m3/dt.

Then it is able to flow water to the Jragung Irrigation Area (DI) up to 4,528 hectares (ha). Construction of the dam will be followed by the construction of an irrigation network, thus supporting the food security program which is currently President Prabowo Subianto's priority

Farmers' productivity is certain to increase. Previously they could only grow once a year, but once there was an irrigation water flow from the dam, it could reach two to three times," he explained.

The dam with a peak elevation of 119.5 meters, he continued, was able to reduce the risk of flooding downstream from 378 cubic meters per second to 170 meters per second.

So it can reduce flooding by up to 45 percent in the Semarang area.

This project is estimated to be a hydro Micro Power Plant (PLTMH) with a capacity of 1,400 kilowatts (kw). Then it has the potential to be developed in the tourism and agrotourism sectors.

"Residents can feel other benefits from the Jragung Dam, because we make the area around the project into a green and attractive area to visit. People are also involved in planting fruit there," he said.

For information, the Jragung Dam began working at the end of 2020 through three work packages. Package I was carried out by PT Waskita Karya with a contract value of IDR 806.3 billion.

This project is one of 61 dams built by the government through the Ministry of Public Works (PU) during the 2015-2025 period.
