In A Bilateral Meeting With Vietnam, Prabowo Discusses Ratification Of Exclusive Economic Zones
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is committed to immediately ratifying the exclusive economic zone boundary agreement with Vietnam in a bilateral meeting with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the sidelines of the APEC Summit, Lima, Peru, Friday, November 15 local time.
Quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, November 16, 2024, during a meeting with President Luong Cuong at a hotel in Lima, Peru, President Prabowo congratulated President Luong Cuong who was inaugurated not long ago from Prabowo.
"I would like to congratulate you on your inauguration as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on October 21, 2024. I myself was sworn in 1 day before you, namely on October 20, 2024," Prabowo said in a voice recording received in Jakarta, Saturday.
The President also expressed his gratitude for the Vice President of Vietnam Vo Thi Anh Xuan at that time attending the inauguration at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, last October 20.
Prabowo assessed that Indonesia and Vietnam's relations were very strong and well established. This has been proven through diplomatic relations that have been going on for 70 years.
The Head of State considers that close relations between Vietnam and Indonesia are very important and seeks to strengthen this existing partnership.

Because of this very close relationship, Prabowo is committed to ratifying the exclusive economic zone boundary agreement with Vietnam.
"We remain committed to accelerating the ratification process of our exclusive economic zone agreement. And of course, after that, we have to complete the implementation arrangements," Prabowo said.
Before closing his remarks, Prabowo said that Indonesia and Vietnam had the same history of fighting colonialism and imperialism.
"We really admire your heroic struggle," Prabowo said.
