KPU Says Pilkada Sirekap Application Can Be Functioned Without Internet Access

The Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of West Sumatra Province, Ory Sativa Syakban, said that the 2024 Regional Head Election Information and Recapitulation System (Sirekap) can still be used even without internet access.

"Our framework for simultaneous regional elections is more user-friendly because it can be used without internet access," said Ory Sativa, ANTARA, Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Ory explained that the use of Sirekap in areas that have not been touched or experienced internet disturbances can be used by utilizing the assistance of the Bluetooth feature. This means that after voting, officers can still save, count votes, and send reports or data to witnesses of candidate pairs using Bluetooth.

However, the weakness is that officers cannot immediately publish Sirekap results at that time. To overcome this, officers will move to areas that have an internet network.

Based on the mapping carried out by the KPU, there are 482 polling stations or polling stations that do not have internet access. Of the 19 districts and cities in Minang, the most polling stations do not have an internet network located in Mentawai Islands Regency, namely 85 points.

In full, Mentawai Islands Regency 85 points, 75 polling stations in Pasaman Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency 62 locations, 61 polling stations in Agam Regency, 48 polling stations in Sijunjung Regency, 36 in Solok, 25 in West Pasaman, 22 in Limapuluh Kota Regency, 20 in South Solok, 18 polling stations in Pesisir Selatan and Dharmasraya and 12 polling stations in Tanah Datar.

In addition to 482 polling stations that were not touched by the West Sumatra KPU internet network, there were also 127 polling stations that were not electrified. Of the 127 points, 91 of them are also in the Mentawai Islands Regency.

"PLN and internet service providers have committed to shifting their devices to blank spot areas," he said.
