Susi Pudjiastuti Calls To Stop Using Plastic Suctions In Today's History, November 16, 2018

JAKARTA - Today, six years ago, November 16, 2018, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Susi Pudjiastuti called on the Indonesian people to stop using plastic straws. The call was revealed because straws could disrupt and damage ecosystems at sea.

Previously, the anti-treading movement began to surface in Indonesia. Many of the food and beverage businessmen no longer use plastic straws. They are already hot with marine animals whose lives are disturbed by straws.

Plastic straw waste is increasingly threatening global waters. This condition was shown by the large number of marine animals that were victims of plastic straws and even died. As a result, the sea is no longer a pleasant home for its residents.

The ocean can be a threat at any time. All of this is if the activity of using plastic straws in restaurants to bottled drinks continues. The marine ecosystem is damaged. Humans can no longer enjoy underwater beauty.

This condition cannot be tolerated. Many communities care about the environment began calling for stopping the use of plastic straws. Activists and celebrities began to speak out. They want the Indonesian oceans to be free from plastic straws.

Deru's desire to avoid plastic straw waste also emerged from small businesses to large labor and beverage businesses. They with high awareness no longer provide plastic straws. There are those who provide alternatives to replace straws.

There are also those who do not provide it at all. As a result, just drink is left to drink. This step is considered their simple contribution to caring for the underwater environment.

The movement against plastic straw waste is getting bigger day by day. This condition also indicates that the marine ecosystem in Indonesia is not doing well.

"In 2015-2016, many people care about plastic waste from plastic bags or bottled drinking water bottles, there is this movement, but I see that for plastic straw waste that makes us beach and diving lovers very uncomfortable, it doesn't exist yet. Even though plastic straw waste is everywhere."

"Everyone can get involved because the simple way is to say I don't want to use a plastic straw. Just like saying I don't use chili sauce or something else. Alternatively, they can use a straw using a reuse or traditional way, just drink it out of a glass," said Swietena Puspa Lestari from the Divers Clean Action community as quoted on the detik.com page, September 19, 2018.

Gelora garbage, plastic straws that litter the ocean, even reach the ears of power makers. The Minister of KPP, Susi Pudjiastuti, also did not want to be left behind. The figure, who is known to have the courage to fight illegal foreign fishing vessels, thieves are also concerned about plastic straws in the ocean.

He revealed this concern on November 16, 2018. Susi uploaded a video via her Twitter / X account confirming that plastic straws can damage marine exosystems and survive marine animals.

He appealed to the Indonesian people to stop using plastic straws. Susi considered this step can help the survival of animals and fishermen. As a result, the fish become abundant because the plastic straw is no longer littering the marine environment.

"Stop using plastic straws. They become trash at sea and hurt our favorite," tweeted Susi via the Tikatter / X account @susipudjiastuti, November 16, 2018.
