After Indonesian National Team Loses to Japan, Shin Tae-yong Mentions Ragnar Oratmangoen
JAKARTA - Indonesian National Team Coach, Shin Tae-yong, spoke about his team's defeat to Japan on the fifth matchday of the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. He also touched on Ragnar Oratmangoen's performance.
In the match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Friday, November 15, 2024, in the evening of Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the Indonesian National Team lost 0-4 to the Samurai Biru. This defeat at home was clearly disappointing for Shin Tae-yong.
After the match, Shin Tae-yong did not hesitate to congratulate Japan. He said that Japan's game did have good quality from various aspects.
"First, I congratulate the Japanese National Team and its head coach, (Hajime) Moriyasu."
"Starting from the FIFA rankings, all sides, we did lose. In fact, we prepared for this match with very good hard work. It's a shame the result is like this," said Shin Tae-yong at a press conference after the match.

In this match, the Indonesian National Team fell behind 0-1 in the 35th minute through Justin Hubner's own goal when he tried to cut off a Japanese player's cross.
Five minutes later, Japan managed to increase its lead to 2-0 through Takumi Minamino's goal.
Japan was ahead 2-0 over Indonesia in the first half. In the second half, the Blue Samurai managed to increase their lead to 4-0 through goals from Hidamasa Morita in the 49th minute and Yukinari Sugawara in the 69th minute.
Regarding the course of the match, Shin Tae-yong also discussed Ragnar Oratmangoen's performance which was quite good in creating opportunities, but failed to become the opening goal.
"However, at the beginning we got a perfect opportunity. However, it was not utilized well by Ragnar (Oratmangoen)."
"That's what caused us to lose. Maybe if we could have scored first, the result would have changed," said Shin Tae-yong.
"However, I don't want to make excuses because we lost. I will evaluate and prepare for the next match better," said the South Korean coach clearly.
Despite the defeat against Japan at home, the Indonesian National Team still has to refocus.
The reason is, the Garuda Squad will face Saudi Arabia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
